The Turkish Sugar
Authority has been established under the Sugar Law no. 4634 which has
entered into force on 19 April 2001. Having a public legal personality,
the Authority has been formed in order to ensure application of the
Sugar Law and other relevant legislation, to supervise and conclude
related applications, to make arrangements within the framework of the
powers granted by the Law, to fulfil other duties entrusted and exercise
the powers granted by the Law.
The Turkish Sugar
Authority has the status of a regulatory and supervisory authority
according to the Law no. 5018 on Public Financial Management and
Control, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 24/12/2003,
numbered 25326.
The head office of
the Authority is in Ankara.
The bodies of the
Authority are the Sugar Board and the service units.
The Sugar Board is
the decision-making organ of the Authority and takes and applies all
kinds of decisions covered by the Sugar Law. The President of the Board
is also the President of the Authority.
The Authority is
managed by the Board.
The Ministry
associated with the Authority is the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. |
